The ideal candidate will have experience working in the field of biomolecular data analysis and complex data reduction, together with grant application experience and a stage-appropriate strong publication record. The ideal candidate will be at the late assistant, early associate professor level. Candidates for associate professor or professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track.
Principal duties:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has a robust research program in women’s health, pregnancy and pregnancy related outcomes involving research faculty spanning biomolecular sciences, maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, oncology and population health. The department is currently ranked fifth in the nation for NIH funding from NICHD. Our growing research portfolio involves complex data analysis related to and across areas from population health databases, quantification of clinical and advanced imaging (MRI) data, genomics analysis of normal and diseased tissue samples. This rich constellation of datasets creates immense opportunities to identify biomarkers, create predictive algorithms for personalized therapy, and conduct basic and translational research into fundamental biological processes. We are seeking a candidate with experience and passion for development of novel analytical, computational and modelling pipelines through independent and collaborative research. The School of Medicine and Public Health and UW Madison main campus is Clinical and Translational Science Award funded and includes a full biotechnology center with cutting edge services to support gathering of such datasets and biostatistical support for their analysis. Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty are also active collaborators within the UW Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center and Wisconsin National Primate Research Center. This highly enriched environment offers opportunities for the qualified applicant to achieve a highly productive individual research program and multiple opportunities for productive collaborations within and beyond the department. The successful candidate will be expected establish their own research program and work with colleagues and programs inside and outside the department of obstetrics and gynecology, to secure extramural funds and maintain a robust research program. In addition to technical skills, evidence of experience in collaboration and gaining external NIH funding will be considered an advantage.
Teaching Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be expected to mentor graduate students and postdoctoral (MD and/or PhD) Fellows. Experience in training of residents and clinical fellows in research will be considered an advantage. The incumbent will also share responsibility in teaching graduate level courses related to their area of expertise.
